Fatti Issaka, Northern Region Mrs. Fati Issaka (nee Abdulai) was born in Tamale in Ghana. Her maternal uncle sponsored her education, and she became one of the few educated Northern girls at the time.

She obtained her state Registered Nursing and Midwifery certificates in 1958 and 1961 respectively and a Diploma Certificate in Nursing Administration at the University of Ghana, Legon in 1975. She was known as a very compassionate nurse.

Issaka developed a burning desire to rescue and nurture abandoned and unwanted children in society after she encountered an abandoned day old baby girl at the Tamale Hospital in 1977. She became so attached to the infant that the nurses nicknamed the infant 'Baby Fati'. Unfortunately, the infant died.

When Issaka retired as Chief Nursing Officer with the Ministry of Health in April 1997 she pursued her dream and established the Anfaani Children's Home in Tamale with co-founder Mrs. Josephine Taylor in 2001. A widow with three children and four grand children, Grandma Fati, as she was popularly called, ran the day-to-day affairs of the home until she passed away in 2008. In Anfaani Children's home, what Issaka cherished most was the laughter of children. She made certain that every infant who was brought to the Anfaani home experienced a world of care and love.

According to Issaka, when God gives you life, it is because He wants you to count for something; and so long as she had breath, she would serve humanity with all her heart.

Madam Issaka passed away after her selection a few weeks after her selection as Portrait of an Excellent Woman. Shear Power Ventures congratulates her for her extraordinary contribution to humanity, and her selection as Northern Region's Portrait of Excellence, 2008.

May her soul rest in peace.
